Just recently , De Rustica was certified and became a member of the RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) and already we can take pride in receiving three of the five best prices received for wool at the BKB Wool Auctions in Port Elizabeth.

The RWS, a new voluntary global standard for sheep welfare and the land they graze on is a standard that addresses the welfare of sheep and the land they graze on.  The goals of the Responsible Wool Standard are to provide the industry with a tool to recognize the best practices of farmers; ensuring that wool comes from farms that have a progressive approach to managing their land, practice holistic respect for animal welfare of the sheep and respect the Five Freedoms of animal welfare.  Part of the pride that we take in the wool that we produce is the fact that we have trained and employ our own sheep sheering team, creating employment for otherwise impoverished people.

It is amazing to see that even in these difficult times with the world market being put under serious strain due to the Corona Virus, we still managed to achieve a relative good price for our quality wool.
