Gold Award for De Rustica at Sol d’ Oro International Olive Oil Competition 2019

The Sol d’ Oro, Southern Hemisphere is held in alternation by olive oil-producing countries in the southern hemisphere. After Chile, South Africa, Australia, Japan, and South Africa again, Sol d’Oro Southern Hemisphere 2019 was hosted by Peru on 27 September 2019.

The Competition has three categories: delicately fruity, medium fruity and intensely fruity. And three awards in each category: Sol d’Oro, Sol d’Argento and Sol di Bronzo (Gold, Silver, and Bronze). Other olive oils achieving a score of 70/90 or higher receive Special Mentions. De Rustica Estate Range Medium received a special mention.

This year De Rustica received a gold award for our Single Cultivar, Coratina. Last year (2018) we brought home 1 Gold, 2 Silver as well as the special “Giulio Bertrand” award given to the company attaining the highest score with the sum of points earned by its olive oils presented in each category.

The Quote “Quality is an important driving force as regards competitiveness” was used by Daniele Salvagno, Director of the Board (Sol d’ Oro) during the announcement of the winners. We at De Rustica believe that quality is synonymous with our name and we strive to achieve the only the best quality and consistency with each year’s harvest. This year we experienced extreme drought and we still managed to deliver premium quality extra virgin olive oil bringing home prestigious awards.

This edition of Sol d’Oro Southern Hemisphere in Peru attracted entries from more countries than ever – Peru, Chile, South Africa, Australia, Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil. The final ranking clearly highlights this: the nine main medals were awarded to five different countries. One which De Rustica brought home with our Single Cultivar, Coratina.
